About
GioStrives
Learning and building with slow AI, choosing signal over slop while documenting the journey.
What this is
GioStrives is a public journey: building with AI and technology to improve how I learn and work. I'm recording the process on this website and on social media to keep myself accountable, and to pick out and share the few valuable things I discover along the way.
Gio is my nickname, strives is what I intend to do here: try hard, probably failing along the way. The nickname lets me learn and build without fear of being judged for what I don't know.
Philosophy
I want to truly learn and master new topics with the aid of AI, and show how it can be used to democratise learning.
AI is a powerful instrument: it can do a lot, for good or bad. My aim is the former: using it for learning and menial tasks, while avoiding hype and industrial-scale slop. I'd like this to be about us humans: I don't care about a bigger model with more features if it doesn't truly help me.
Current work
- Anki smart flashcards (v0.1): an add-on where you write a full sentence with the new word, then an AI tells you what's off. Early builds may be rough; the feedback is advice, not gospel.
- Course notes and quizzes, starting with Stanford's CS329A on self-improving AI agents.
- Apps to help my young children learn.
